Rumours have it Start are reuniting for a show in Iceland? I was wondering if you could shed some light on the history of Start. There is very little information on the band on the internet, apart from a short note over at Music.US:

"This Icelandic pop-rock group was formed in 1980 by vocalist Petur Kristjansson and guitarist Kristjan Edelstein. Enlisting the services of Eiríkur Hauksson (guitar, vocals), Nikulas Robertsson (keyboards), Jon Olafsson (bass, vocals) and David Karlsson (drums), they signed to the Steinar label the following year. They debuted with En Hun Snyst Nu Samt; a predictable collection of soft-rock anthems with Icelandic vocals. They disappeared into oblivion, after representing Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest."

I also found a review of the album at MetalPage, where it is also characterized as "almost impossible to find". Good thing I snapped it up when I suddenly found it at MusicStack - I'm sure it's worth those 36 dollars!

Anyway, it would be great to learn some more about both the band and the album - and come to think of it: Shouldn't there be some info here on Drýsill as well?

Hi Rune! Start was my first real band, and by that I mean with an album and some serious following. We kept it going for like three years and that period includes many of my nicest memories from my entire life. We have had some reunion gigs over the years and this year we did two gigs, - May 30th and the 31st. But the information you found were not at all right. This is how it should be...

"This Icelandic pop-rock group was formed in 1980 by Petur Kristjansson (vocals), Eiríkur Hauksson (vox/guit/keys), Sigurgeir Sigmundsson (guitar), Jon Olafsson (bass), Nikulas Robertsson (keys) and Gustav Adolfsson (drums). After some months, in came as a replacement; guitarist Kristjan Edelstein and drummer David Karlsson. The band signed to the Steinar label the following year. They debuted with En Hun Snyst Nu Samt; a predictable collection of soft-rock anthems with Icelandic vocals."

About: "They disappeared into oblivion, after representing Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest."
This remark was real funny. The band broke up 1982 – four years before Iceland’s first Eurovision appearance.

And Rune, I will write about Drýsill another time. It is a band worth to be remembered.

- Eiríkur.
