A short review on 2007. I am trying to get to where we are today, but first some highlights from last year! January 16th - After 5 years of seeing doctors every third month I am now officially free of Cancer. Yahoo!!! January 20th-23d. Tour to Athens and Thessalonika- two concerts with Artch. January 27th. "Ég les í lófa thínum" (Valentine Lost) is one of three songs to succeed in the Icelandic ESC Semi-Finals. February 17th. Number one in the finals - Next stop Helsinki. May 10th. ESC Semi-Finals : Didn´t make it to the Finals. Too bad, but it looked like this was the year for Eastern-Europe. For the first time in my life ( probably the last ) I used my cell-phone to vote for myself, in hope to go on to the finals. I "could" do this because I have a Norwegian number while I was participating for Iceland. All around me artists and their groups were doing the same. Tele-Companies made millions, while some other millions were starving elsewhere in the world. Anyway, the thing is that I never got through, so I wasn´t much help in getting myself on to the next level. And it makes me wonder...how fair is this tele-voting thing? And how much money is involved! My friends,- we are talking huge figures, and it makes you start to think,- doesn´t it. But Helsinki - One of the best times in my life! On June 28th I performed at the biggest Gay-Show in Norway. ( No!!! I am not Gay ) Many former ESC artists were there and it was great fun. Marija Serifovic was supposed to perform but didn´t show up. She had lost her voice for a short period it was said. Does anyone know what really became of here? I knew she would dissappear quickly but I haven´t heard a single word about her. That is strange! But when all that is said I must quote that she was a worthy winner in Helsinki. Why... because opposite to many other artists there,- she could and can sing. She did well on all the rehearsals and throughout the competition, so - Well Done Marija! August 4th. For me the highlight of the whole year! After playin in Serbia the day before Live-Fire did the annual Gressvik-Show. This time we had Glen Hughes ( ex- Deep Purple ) as our guest. And what a great concert it was. Gressvik-Square was sold out and we all played like possessed. Without a doubt my best performance of the year ( Helsinki included ). Wish you all could have been there... The rest of the year. I was very busy for the remainings of 2007, and of course much of it was in connection with ESC and Valentine. But there were other things as well ; My work with Ken Hensley continued and I got to visit many places I had never seen before. Small towns in East-Europe is something I remember well. Everything is so different, and it became obvious to me how wealthy we are here in Scandinavia. Perhaps something to be grateful for, hmm... I started two new projects last year! On December 22nd I did a concert with Trond Holter, for many known as Teeny from WigWam. This was supposed to be the start of something bigger with our new band and everything. But since then nothing has happened. Teeny has his mind completely on WigWam and I can´t blame him,- they are very popular and it is safe. So I don´t think we will hear any more from this band. Sad in the way that I felt we had something good going...Can´t succeed with everything I guess - can one ?... On December 28th I did a first appearance with Magic-Pie from Moss/Norway. After some serious thinking I had decided to join this Prog-Rock based band. Why...? Because I liked their music and this was something quite different to anything I had done before. We have done some gigs this year, sort of getting to know each other on stage. But the main process is starting now. We are writing new material to be released spring/summer in 2009, so you are now warned. To end the year in style I threw a big party at my new house. I live high upon a hill with a view over the city. With many friends and neighbours ( who demanded this party ) we did the usual fire-crackers and all that bull-shit. We drank and we sang throughout the beautiful stary night. Absolutely no cloud up in the sky and the man in the moon could look down on a bunch of drunk, but happy people wishing one another a good year and all the luck in the future. So far all those wishes have done me well. 2008 has been a good year for me so far. I will tell you more about that in just few days... Love - Eirikur |
