... and a Happy New Year! PDF E-mail
...a strange title - aye mate! But the first part "Merry Christmas" was written December 22nd, and it disappeared, out into the Big-Void. Yeah, just my never ending bad-luck story... hmmm! Well, anyway I sincerely hope that 2009 will be a good year for all of you. 2008 was a very good year for me and much of that is thanks to you guys. It is so good to have your support, you know. Not many of you have the opportunity to visit my concerts and this last year I haven't "given" any products back to you either, but still you are there for me. And that kinda support shows your dedication and love - Thank you so much.

However I do intend to produce a lot in 2009 and there are in fact so many plans out there in the open, that I may have to (must) make some choices in terms of what to do - and what to skip. Let us take a look at what should be ahead...

1) My Prog-Rock band Magic Pie is recording a new CD for sure. We are already in the "making songs"-process. And even though I had to back off totally in December, during my tight schedule, we are going in with full force come January. Now don't let the description Prog-Rock scare you too much, my friends. Our music is very melodic and quite 70's as well. I feel association to bands like Pink Floyd and Alan Parson's Project, just to name a couple. Being Prog-Rock, - well yes of course there is a lot of instrumental music-parts, but we have three lead vocals in the band, which in fact is our biggest strength during live performances. I am guessing release in September/October.

2) My work with Ken Hensley will continue next year. Maestro has his head filled with plans as usual. But he also has to pick and choose, I guess. But I think his priority will be a new solo album, which will include your beloved... ( that's me ) on vocals. How much Ken is going to use me is not cleared as for yet, and I will take nothing for granted either. This product is his baby and he will know best when it comes to deciding singers for his melodies. But I have a good feeling that I am very much in his plans... Time will show!

3) January 12th, I am flying to Stockholm to meet, for the first time, - my new friends Michael/keys, and Fredrik/guitars. The three of us have been working on 12 hard-rock songs for the past two months and the result is very promising. As for now we call ourselves "Skarr", ( an old Viking word for a sword ). The process has been that M and F have sent me complete instrumental recordings where I have had free hands as for writing lyrics and melodies. The idea is to finish the product and then try some record companies for a release. It may work out - and it may not. Anyway, I am going to spend three days with them, trying out and recording my vocals. I am very exited about this and this fits perfectly into my plans because the cooperation between me and Trond Holter ( Wig-Wam ) never really started, due to the fact that both parts were too busy. If I let you in on some titles, well you might get the idea of where "Skarr" is headed... The Cellar - After The Slaughter - Temptress Of Love ... just to name a few! You know... Rock will always Roll - and boys will always be boys. Time to grow up, - you say!?! No, not yet. I am far too busy for that.

This (above) is what I assume will happen in 2009, but it doesn't have to stop there either. I am always under a pressure from different angles about a solo-project, and have a feeling that during 2009 I will have so many good songs piled up that the easiest step will be to just record it and release it. And another fact for next year is my BIG birthday on the 4th of July. I am going to have a huge concert in Reykjavik that evening and it will probably be recorded for a DVD as well. Due to the financial crisis in Iceland we have waited until now as for to start planning this event. What I do know for sure is that there will be a concert, but what I am willing to risk is another question. I will keep you posted.

Due to all these plans there will not be that many gigs for me at the start of next year. As long as I have money for milk and bread ( in my case Beer and Pizza ) I will dedicate my time for songwriting, - both music and lyrics. Aah! - which reminds me... Before the end of this day I have to finish the words for an entry for the Icelandic ESC. A happy jolly tune, supposed to make everybody smile and forget everything about crisis and stuff like that. So I am off... here I go... Fly-fly fly!

Thanks once again for the moments you have shared with me during this past year. I hope of course that sometime in future I will get the chance to meet you all. No not all at once, of course... that would cause a riot. But the pleasure will be all mine, when that happens. And for those of you I already have met, I look forward to see you again... and again!

At 00:00 hours tomorrow I will send you all a big-hug thought-message. It will be written in the stars. Take a long good look and you will see it. And when you do; send one back back to me, - would you... Please!!! All my best to you all... Eirikur
